Monday is the 108th consecutive day where El Paso’s high temperature reached 90 degrees or more, the longest such streak on record in the city.
The forecast calls for the streak to end Tuesday, the first day of fall, with an expected high temperature of 88 degrees. Heavy rains are possible Tuesday and Wednesday, with a flood watch in effect for much of that time.
The last day El Paso’s temperature didn’t reach at least 90 degrees was June 5. Fifty days in that stretch saw temperatures of 100 degrees or more.
Every day of the summer between June 22 and Sept. 21 had a high temperature of at least 90 degrees, the first time that’s happened in more than 140 years of weather records for El Paso.
The average high temperature in El Paso between June 22 and Sept. 21 was 98.7 degrees, the third-highest total for those dates on record. The average overnight low was 74 degrees, the fourth-highest on record for those days.
El Paso is on track to have its warmest year in history. Through Monday, El Paso’s average temperature for 2026 was 72.9 degrees, which is 0.4 degrees more for that period than any prior year.
