KTSM News – UTEP to honor female standouts at basketball game

Posted on January 18, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) women’s basketball team will celebrate “National Girls” and “Women in Sports Day” with an award ceremony that will be held at halftime of UTEP’s game against Middle Tennessee.

The game will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 at the Don Haskins Center.

The halftime ceremony will feature local female standouts which will be honored for their achievements in athletics, in the classroom and in the community. It will be a chance for these student-athletes to be properly recognized for their impact they’ve made, according to UTEP.

Nominations for outstanding candidates are still open and may be made here. The deadline for submission is Feb. 1.
