EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Gadsden Independent School District is reporting that it has discolored water at several schools on Monday, Jan. 22.
Desert View Elementary, Riverside Elementary and Sunland Park Pre-K are reporting discolored water that appears brownish-yellow, according to the district.
In response, GISD has delivered drinking water to these campuses “to ensure the safety of
students’ hydration and for use in food preparation in the school kitchens. Both schools rely on
the Camino Real Regional Utility Authority (CRRUA) for their water supply,” according to Gadsden ISD.
The district informed CRRUA about the issue and is working closing with the utility to monitor and address the situation, the district said in its news release.
“GISD emphasizes that students’ well-being is of utmost importance. Drinking water is available on both campuses, and precautions are in place to guarantee safe water consumption as CRRUA
addresses this situation,” the district stated.
