EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 85-year-old El Paso man suffered serious injuries after he was struck by a vehicle in East El Paso, according to El Paso Police.
Police say just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23, they responded to a call regarding a serious crash involving a pedestrian.
Police say the pedestrian, the 85-year-old man, was seriously injured and transported to a local hospital.
Police say a 70-year-old El Paso woman, who was traveling in a Nissan Altima, was traveling westbound on the 6500 block of Edgemere.
As the Nissan Altima entered the intersection of Sioux, the 85-year-old man was crossing Edgemere and walked into the path of the car, according to police.
Police say the 70-year-old woman was unable to avoid the collision and struck the pedestrian.
Police say the man was on the crosswalk, but is believed to have been crossing while not having the right of way and attempted to cross against the light.
Due the seriousness of the injuries, investigators from the Special Traffic Investigations Unit responded to the scene.
