KTSM News – Acevedo sworn in as new city rep for District 2

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Josh Acevedo was sworn in Tuesday, Jan. 30 as a new city representative.

Acevedo, who had been a trustee on the El Paso ISD Board, beat local attorney and activist Veronica Carbajal in a runoff for Council District 2 on Jan. 20. They were vying to succeed Alexsandra Annello, who is running in House District 77.

Also, city Rep. Brian Kennedy was named as the new mayor pro tempore, who leads meetings when the mayor is absent. It is largely a ceremonial position.

Annello had previously served as mayor pro tem.
