EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) —El Paso was recently awarded nearly $4 million to provide housing assistance, and support services for indivudals who are experiencing homelessness, according to a press release from United States Senator for Texas John Cornyn.

The press release says several El Paso recipients were awarded federal grants totaling to $3,818,100 which was provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Continuum of Care Program.

The federal grants are to provide “housing assistance and support services for individuals, families, minors, and domestic violence survivors experiencing homelessness,” the press release said.

The press release also provided a list of El Paso recipients who received the federal grants and the amount they were awarded. Those are the following:

Center Against Sexual and Family Violence- $367,156

El Paso Center for Children- $219,488

El Paso Coalition for the Homeless- $662,376

El Paso Human Services- $168,008

Project Amistad- $340,815

Project Vida- $268,772

The Salvation Army, A Georgia Corporation- $184,691

“Homelessness in Texas is on the rise, and higher costs on everything from rent to utilities to groceries have made it even harder for these individuals to get back on their feet,” said Sen.
