EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The GECU Foundation made a $8,500 donation on Tuesday, Feb. 13 to fund scholarships for aspiring emergency medical technicians.
The donation went to the ProAction Emergency Services Institute and will directly fund two scholarships, “reducing financial barriers” to individuals wanting to become EMTs, according to a news release announcing the donation.
“This initiative reflects a shared commitment to enhancing the quality of emergency medical services in the community by educating EMTs with the skills to save lives,” according to the news release.
Henry Brutus, executive director of the ProAction Emergency Services Institute, said: “This generous donation from the GECU Foundation marks a significant milestone in
our efforts to make EMT training more accessible. We are deeply thankful for GECU
Foundation’s support, which not only empowers our students, but also strengthens the
emergency medical services in our community.”
