KTSM News – EPCH celebrates 12 years serving kids in our community

Posted on February 15, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – El Paso Children’s Hospital celebrated 12 years of serving the El Paso area with a birthday parade named “Luchando for Kids.”

The parade was held this morning for all patients and included special guests and characters who visited all unit floors and brought smiles and treats to all the children.

Professional wrestler and local star Cinta de Oro was part of the celebration and teamed up with EPCH for their 12th-anniversary events.

“Being a father, like I explained before, is very important to give back to the community. I think sometimes people think that we just go out there and wrestle, and that’s it, but I think that when you transcend outside the ring is the most important thing for me. I do battle inside the ring, but they do a battle outside the ring, which is the most important one,” said Cinta de Oro.

According to EPCH, the hospital has become one of the most sought-after pediatric hospitals in West Texas and Southern New Mexico, with renowned physicians and medical experts.

El Paso, Children’s Hospital, said that before they opened their doors to our community, on average, more than 650 children had to leave our area to seek medical treatment; 12 years later, EPCH was able to reduce that number by close to 85 percent, they added.
