EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Public Libraries have received a statewide award for excellence, according to the City of El Paso.
The El Paso public library system was one of 84 public libraries out of 545 in Texas to receive the 2023 Achievement of Library Excellence Award from the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association, an affiliate of the Texas Municipal League.
“This esteemed recognition reflects the El Paso Public Libraries’ unwavering commitment to advancing library services and promoting community engagement,” said El Paso Public Libraries Director Norma Martinez. “This accolade not only highlights the library’s dedication to providing access to knowledge but also acknowledges its innovative initiatives, community outreach programs, and commitment to enhancing the overall library experience for our patrons.”
To this award, a library must “exhibit excellence by providing services to underserved and special populations; marketing in innovative ways; pursuing collaborative efforts; continually enhancing its services; supporting literacy, digital inclusion, and workforce development; providing cultural, topical, and educational programming; and comprehensively training its staff,” according to the news release.
The El Paso Public Libraries also received this award in 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.
