Posted on February 22, 2024

EAGLE PASS, Texas (ValleyCentral) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized over 13,000 pounds of methamphetamine, the largest single enforcement seize reported at a Texas port of entry.

The seizure happened Sunday at Camino Real International Bridge in Eagle Pass, approximately 200 miles northwest of the Rio Grande Valley.

According to CBP, a tractor trailer shipping drying agent for piglets was referred for a secondary inspection.

Following a K9 and non-intrusive inspection system examination, CBP officers discovered a total of approximately 13,101 pounds of alleged methamphetamine within the shipment.

The meth had a street value of $117.1 million, the largest seizure ever reported at a port of entry in a single enforcement action.

“This gargantuan methamphetamine seizure, the largest ever taken down by CBP officers at a port of entry, uniquely illustrates the serious narcotics threat our officers face on a daily basis,” Donald Kusser, Director of Field Operations at CBP’s Laredo Field Office said.
