EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso County Commissioners Court passed a resolution on Monday, Feb. 26 recognizing KTSM as a “great partner and for their work featuring and spotlighting the many places, people and stories that make El Paso County such a vibrant place.”
In particular, county commissioners singled out KTSM’s “Small Town Spotlight” series of newscasts where the station goes live from different places around the Borderland.
Here is the resolution in its entirety:
WHEREAS, KTSM-TV the NBC affiliate in El Paso, Texas has embraced their “Putting Local First” slogan by working with El Paso County’s Communication department by producing weekly segments that highlight El Paso County’s initiatives; and,
WHEREAS, Anchor/Producer Stephanie Shields’ collaboration with our Communications team, has written, edited, and hosted a weekly segment called County Connection that highlights many of the County’s initiatives which serves and affects our residents; and,
WHEREAS, General Manager David Candelaria, News Director Chris Babcock, Operations Manager Ozzie Carrillo, and the many producers, anchors, reporters, photojournalists and production personnel took on the initiative of highlighting every single small town/municipality within El Paso County to include Tornillo, Fabens, Clint, San Elizario, Socorro, Horizon City, Anthony, Canutillo and Vinton/Westway in the summer of 2023 with their Small Town Spotlight series where they conducted live remote broadcasts and produced news stories of unique places within each community;
and, WHEREAS, these live newscasts helped highlight the vibrant culture and unique heritage of the many people and places that make El Paso County a great place to live.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the El Paso County Judge and Commissioners Court recognize KTSM-TV for being such a great partner and for their work of featuring and spotlighting the many places, people, and stories that make El Paso County such a vibrant community.
