Well, today is probably a good day for this conversation. President Joe Biden is in Brownsville, Texas and Donald Trump, who appears to be in the driver’s seat as the Republican candidate, is in Eagle Pass. The border, clearly, is going to take a prominent role in this year’s presidential election. But we already knew this. Things have been hot since 2024 started: the state/federal standoff in Eagle Pass, the “Take Our Border Back” convoy (see picture above), the attempted impeachment of DHS secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and the enforcement-heavy bipartisan border bill that was voted down by the Senate.
So Melissa and I thought it was time to pose the question to you, dear readers, to hear your commentary, observations, insights, and questions regarding what to expect this year. How do you think the elections will impact the border? What are you thoughts, concerns, predictions? What do you think will happen and what do you hope will happen? This is the point of our thread today. We hope to have a vibrant and respectful conversation about all of this. So, please, pour out your hearts! One thing we love about The Border Chronicle is the collective knowledge, wisdom, and experience of our readership.
In the next post I’ll have few housekeeping things. And then we’re off!
