EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – A federal grand jury in El Paso has indicted a Deming man for allegedly sending obscene images on a social media platform and trying to coerce a minor to engage in sexual activity.
The charges stem from alleged online activity over several months between Wilhelm Cloyd Thompson and a person he believed was a 13-year-old girl. A criminal complaint filed in February alleges Thompson communicated with the girl over MocoSpace, bragged about his manhood, sent two photographs of his penis and offered to take her virginity, according to the complaint.
The girl turned out to be an undercover FBI employee. Federal agents arrested Thompson on Feb. 3 and the grand jury returned a two-count indictment Wednesday in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. The charges are attempted coercion and enticement and attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor.
Thompson was booked into the El Paso County Jail annex last month and is scheduled for arraignment on March 14 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Anne T. Berton in El Paso.
