EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A 19-year-old El Paso man is now facing aggravated assault charges after getting into a fight with another man in Northeast El Paso, El Paso Police said.
According to the Police Department’s preliminary information, the incident happened just after 1 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28, when a 40-year-old man was walking on the 3700 block of Hercules and was headed to a bar.
The 40-year-old man saw a woman and asked her if she wanted to have a drink with him. She refused and the man continued on his way.
The woman told the alleged suspect identified as Irvin Alexis Gerardo, 19, about the other man approaching her.
Gerardo then approached the victim and an altercation took place.
Gerardo showed a gun during the altercation and the victim pepper sprayed Gerardo and a struggle for the gun followed, according to police.
The 40-year-old man was able to take the gun away after he was shot, according to police.
Gerardo was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility and was booked under a $100,000 bond.
