KTSM News – Man dies after getting struck by train in Socorro

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A man was struck and killed by a train in Socorro, late Sunday night, March 10, according to the City of Socorro.

The Socorro Police Department said that at approximately 11:59 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of North Nevarez.

The victim was in his 20s, but his identity was not revealed until the next of kin were notified. He was pronounce dead on the scene.


Incident at Socorro railroad crossing closes several roads

According to SPD, the area was cleared at about 5 a.m. Monday, but the crossings at Nevarez Road, Moon Road, Rio Vista Road and Horizon Boulevard remain closed by a train. Although it is a different train, it stems from safety precautions from the incident, according to the City of Socorro.
