EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) — A 33-year-old U.S. citizen attempted to smuggle a load of fentanyl in his underwear but was caught at the border, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.
The man arrived on Tuesday from Mexico in the pedestrian lanes at the Bridge of the Americas in South El Paso. During a secondary inspection, border officers conducted a pat-down search and found a bundle containing 122 grams of fentanyl in his underwear.
CBP said he was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations for prosecution.

On Wednesday, also at the Bridge of the Americas border crossing, officers found 10 pounds of cocaine in a vehicle driven by a 36-year-old Mexican man.
Officers X-rayed the vehicle and found anomalies in the muffler, where they found the drugs. Texas Department of Public Safety took custody of the driver, the drugs and the vehicle.

At the Santa Teresa (New Mexico) Port of Entry, officers found 242 pounds of marijuana hidden in a vehicle occupied by two U.S. citizens — a 20-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman.
Using an X-ray during a secondary inspection, officers found 226 bundles of pot inside the floor of the vehicle on Monday.
CBP said it seized the vehicle and marijuana, however, no arrests were immediately made.
“Every time a CBP officer intercepts a narcotic smuggling attempt it can potentially save a life of one of our fellow citizens,” said CBP El Paso Director Field Operations Hector A. Mancha. “CBP officer expertise and technology play a role in our enforcement strategy.”
