KTSM News – Proaction offers tuition-free EMT training for veterans

Posted on March 18, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A partnership between ProAction Emergency Services Institute and Workforce Solutions Borderplex is offering veterans tuition-free training to become Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) within three months, according to ProAction.

Proaction says the “Pathway for Heroes” program is offering free training to veterans, active duty transitioning service members, active military, National Guard troops, and Reserve Forces starting next month.

“ProAction currently has a veteran and active duty service member specific EMT course scheduled for April,” ProAction said.

Proaction also says veterans are eligible for up to four years after the end of their service and must live in El Paso or surrounding areas.

Active duty transitioning service members must be six months from their exit date and be stationed at Fort Bliss. National Guard and Reserves forces are also eligible if residing in El Paso or the surrounding area, according to ProAction.

“We are grateful to our veterans and service members for their sacrifices at home and abroad. This program is an opportunity to give back to them. The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training will be entirely free. They will graduate from ProAction’s EMT training program prepared for non-military life with a new career and many career options,” said ProAction Executive Director Henry Brutus.

For more information on how to enroll call (915) 532-2771 or email ProAction at training@proaction.org.
