EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 35-year-old man suffered critical burns after a structure fire in Las Cruces on Tuesday morning, March 19, according to the Las Cruces Fire Department.
The Fire Department says at around 6 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to a report of a structure fire on the 1500 block of Parker Road in Las Cruces.
The Fire Department says the first crew to arrive reported a fire in an attached storage room and found a burn victim in the front yard.
The victim, a 35-year-old man, was in critical condition when he was transported to an area hospital and will be transported to a regional burn center in Lubbock, according to the Fire Department.
The Fire Department says crews brought the fire under control within five minutes and a search of the structure determined it was unoccupied.
The Fire Department says the cause of the fire is still under investigation and damage estimates have yet to be determined.
