It is extremely unusual for the winds to INCREASE overnight, but that will be the case tonight. That’s why I have issued the Weather Authority Alert. The winds will likely be strongest Saturday morning between 6 AM and 9 AM. Here is your exclusive 9 Hour Forecast for Saturday, and your detailed 9-Day Forecast is below:
If you’re planning on watching the Solar Eclipse on Monday, April 8, please make sure you have proper eyewear. The eclipse should start at 11:09 AM, reaching its peak around 12:25 PM. NASA has provided a cool website to show you what to look for based on your zip code. Please visit that site here.
TONIGHT: KTSM has issued a Weather Authority Alert due to powerful, potentially damaging overnight winds. Through the evening, the winds will get stronger. West winds will gust to 65+ mph on the east slopes of the mountains just past midnight. The skies will be partly cloudy, and we will see a dusty haze with these winds through the night. The low will be 54.
FORECAST: Weather Authority Alert: Saturday will be a terrible weather day with strong winds and blowing dust. The west winds will gust to near 65 mph, producing a dusty haze much of the day. Peak gusts will hit in the morning hours of Saturday, which is highly unusual. Saturday’s high will be 67* (*indicates a morning high), and the skies will be partly cloudy. Sunday will be sunny with lighter winds and a high of 72. On Monday, the day of the eclipse, the winds will be fairly light early in the morning. By afternoon, the winds will pick up from the west-SW at 15-50 mph. This will produce a dusty haze by late day. Monday’s high: 77. (El Paso will be able to see 81% coverage of the sun during the eclipse, which will start at 11:09 AM and last about two hours.) Tuesday will be partly to mostly cloudy with cooler winds and a few drops of rain here and there. Tuesday’s high will be 64*, and the winds will feel chilly at times. Wednesday will be nearly perfect with sunshine and a high of 74. Thursday will be sunny with warm winds and a high of 84.
