KTSM News – El Pasoans Fighting Hunger distributed over 160 million pounds of food in 2023

Posted on April 10, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — No El Pasoan is getting left hungry with this food bank.

The El Pasoans Fighting Hunger (EPFH) has reportedly distributed over 106 million pounds of food in 2023, according to a press release sent by the food bank.

While the EPFH is grateful to be able to assist that many families, they do raise the greater challenge in meeting demands of food assistance this year.

All food prices are predicted to increase 2.5 percent, according to EPFH.

“The statistics we’ve released today underscore the urgent need to address food insecurity in our community. The predicted increase is already on top of the 25 percent food price increase that happened during the pandemic, pushing already struggling families further into poverty. It’s crucial that we come together as a community to provide support and assistance to those in need,” said CEO of the El Pasoans Fight Hunger Food Bank, Susan Goodell.
