EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 42-year-old man has been arrested and is facing a felony charge for allegedly possessing child pornography, according to the Las Cruces Police Department.
Jacob Wayne Gill, 42, has been charged with one felony count of sexual exploitation of a child, according to a news release sent out by the Las Cruces Police Department.
Detectives also believe there are victims who live in the local region.
Gill was arrested after a joint investigation by Las Cruces Police, Homeland Security Investigations and the FBI.
Gill was arrested on Thursday, April 25 and is being held without bond at the Dona Ana County Detention Center, according to Las Cruces Police.
Investigators learned that over a six-month period, child pornography was being uploaded to a cloud-based storage account belong to Gill, Las Cruces Police said.
Investigators obtained search warrants and found “multiple images of prepubescent children on the account,” according to Las Cruces Police.
As part of their investigation, detectives were able to confirm that the cloud-based storage account was owned and operated by Gill, police said.
