EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) earned an “A” grade from the Leapfrog Group’s Spring 2024 Hospital Safety Grades along with Las Palmas Medical Center and Del Sol Medical, the Army hospital at Fort Bliss announced in a press release.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, which is peer-reviewed and free to the public, is the only hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical, errors, infections and injuries, according to the press release.
WBAMC’s participation in Leapfrog illustrates commitment to transparency and reflects nationwide distinction in achievement in quality and patient safety, according to the press release.
“Everyone who works here at our military treatment facility should be proud of this grade,” said Col. Lee C. Freeman, WBAMC hospital commander. “Achieving an ‘A’ does not come easy, and I am proud of our healthcare teams for their unwavering commitment to high-reliability and excellence. Their dedication to providing quality care and patient safety to those who served and currently serve our country, is a testament that not only is it better at Fort Bliss, but also in the El Paso community.”
Additionally, WBAMC’s participation in Leapfrog was “intentionally supported and pursued” by higher levels of leadership in the Defense Health Agency (DHA).
“The DHA is the first Federal Health System to participate in the Leapfrog Group Surveys for hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers,” read the press release.
“We want our patients to be aware of the quality and safety of care they will receive at WBAMC,” said Freeman. “It takes a true team effort to achieve such distinction from Leapfrog and our whole team is proud to be recognized among the elite hospitals in the entire nation for patient safety.”
