EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Zoo and Botanical Gardens is inviting the community to celebrate the “Bug Fest” this weekend Saturday, May 18, and Sunday, May 19, according to a press release from the City of El Paso.
The City says the event will be from 10 a.m. through 3 p.m. this weekend Saturday, May 18, and Sunday, May 19 at the El Paso Zoo.
The event will feature all kinds of bugs and insects from spiders, scorpions, and crickets, to Madagascar hissing cockroaches and much more.
Visitors can also get close and personal in a large bug room while learning about the importance of bugs in the ecosystem.
“Bug Fest provides an opportunity to learn about the different types of bugs, their habitats, and their behaviors,” the City said.
The event will also feature a bug cooking demonstration where visitors can enjoy cuisine samples, including scorpions, crickets, ants, and giant water bugs. In addition, visitors will be able to meet hockey players from the El Paso Rhinos.
