Border Report – Undercover buy nets DEA two suspected traffickers, 21 kilos of meth

Posted on May 16, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – Drug enforcement agents in Arizona took 47 pounds of methamphetamine off the streets of Tucson this week and arrested two suspected traffickers in the process.

The arrests and seizure came about after an undercover Drug Enforcement Administration agent established contact with a man offering to sell him a little over 21 kilos of meth for a wholesale price of $37,000. The man later identified as Richard Ernest Bernal Yribe allegedly told the agent he would retrieve the drugs from an undisclosed location and meet him at a house in Tucson, court records show.

DEA agents set up surveillance at the home last Tuesday and allegedly watched a gray Dodge Ram 3500 with Washington state license plates pull up with two men later identified as Bernal and Carlos Morgan Felix.

Federal agents obtained search warrants for the home and the vehicle, finding a handgun and a small amount of cocaine in the house and 21 kilograms of meth in the truck, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona.
