EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — An abandoned house caught fire on Friday, May 17 in Las Cruces, and the Las Cruces Fire Department says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Fire Department says shortly before 8 p.m., firefighters responded to a structure fire at a house located on the 1700 block of North Mesquite Street.

The Fire Department says the first-arriving crew found the rear of the abandoned house to be burning.

Firefighters then confined the fire to a small area and extinguished it within minutes of arrival. The house was unoccupied and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to the Fire Department.
