EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — There are only two days left of early voting in Dona Ana County with early voting ending on Saturday, June 1.
Election Day for the New Mexico Primary is Tuesday, June 4. Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. that day.
Early voting will continue at the Dona Ana County Government Center, 845 N. Motel Blvd., until 5 p.m. Friday, May 31 and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 1.
There are eight other “expanded” early voting sites around Dona Ana County that will be open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
The top race appears to be for district attorney in the 3rd Judicial District, which covers Dona Ana County. Democratic incumbent Gerald Byers is facing four challengers for his party’s nomination– former County Manager Fernando Macias; Ramona J. Martinez; Shaharazad Booth; and Pedro Pineda.
The winner will face Republican Michael Caine, who is running unopposed in the Republican side of the primary.
There are two contested Democratic primaries for state representative in Dona Ana County.
In District 35, incumbent Angelica Rubio is facing challenger Gabriel Duran Jr. There is no Republican in that race.
In District 53, incumbent Willie D. Madrid is facing Jon Hill. The winner will face Republican Elizabeth Lee Winterrowd in the fall.
County Clerk Amanda Lopez Askin is being challenged in the Democratic Primary by Andrew J. Ostic. The winner will face Republican Cheryl De Young in the fall. De Young is running unopposed.
