EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The City of El Paso’s Public Libraries will be launching the Enhanced Library Card (ELC) program on Friday, June 7, according to a press release from the City.
The new ELC is a free full-service library card that will be available to all City and County of El Paso residents 18 and older.
The library card will contain personally identifiable information such as a person’s photo, name, address, height, weight, age, and gender, according to the City.
The City says the card can also be used as a form of identification at all City and El Paso County offices. Private organizations can also register as program partners to accept the new ELC as a form of identification.
To obtain an ELC, you must have proof of identification and proof of residence within El Paso County. The card will contain added security features and will be non-transferable, according to the City.
The City says the card will be available at the following branch libraries during normal hours of operation. Those branch libraries are the following:
Jose Cisneros Cielo Vista Branch, 1300 Hawkins Blvd.
Irving Schwartz Branch,1865 Dean Martin Dr.
Westside Branch, 125 Belvidere
Sergio Troncoso Branch, 9321 Alameda Ave.
