EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is inviting the community to learn more about bighorn sheep.
TPWD is proposing to restore desert bighorn sheep to the Franklin Mountains by releasing them at Franklin Mountains State Park.
The educational event will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 8 at the Franklin Mountains State Park, located at 2900 Tom Mays Access Rd.
TPWD will be hosting a series of education events to give information, history, status, challenges and importance of the bighorn sheep restorations in Texas.
At the event, there will be a free workshop and lunch will be provided.
There will be two more events connected to the bighorn sheep homecoming; on Saturday, July 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and on Friday, Aug. 23 with more details to come.
