HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Harlingen man is being held without bond after he was caught with bundles of cocaine and heroin at the Los Indios Port of Entry, documents allege.

Noah Martin Corona was arrested on a charge of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, records show.

Shortly after 7 a.m. Sunday, Corona entered the U.S. in a 2007 Coachman Freelander at the Los Indios Free Trade International Bridge. Corona told officers that the vehicle had been in Mexico for two weeks having mechanical work done, and he was travelling back to his home in Harlingen, an affidavit stated.

During a secondary inspection, officers found 44 bundles wrapped in brown packaging tape. Of those, 31 tested positive for cocaine and the remaining 13 tested positive for heroin. The total weight of the cocaine was 77 pounds, and the total weight of the heroin was 29 pounds, the document stated.

Authorities searched Corona’s phone, which showed photos of large amounts of cash. The document stated that Corona had previously told officers he was unemployed and homeless.

Agents then conducted an analysis of Corona’s travel history using database systems, which showed the Freelander was driven from Brownsville to Atlanta, Georgia on May 20 and returned three days later, the affidavit added.

Additionally, the analysis showed that the vehicle was driven into Mexico at the Gateway International Bridge on May 28 by an unknown woman.

Corona was taken into custody and made his initial appearance on court Monday. He has a detention hearing scheduled for Thursday and he remains held without bond.
