KTSM News – Operation HOPE assists Ruidoso evacuees

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Operation H.O.P.E is leading an effort to help the people from Ruidoso who had to evacuate their homes.

The nonprofit, along with community partners El Paso Hotel & Lodging, is giving displaced residents a place to stay while they try to contact loved ones and the condition of their home back in Ruidoso.

The partners gathered to announce the program during a news conference this morning.

According to the New Mexico Forestry Division, over 24,000 acres as of Friday morning, June 21.

The South Fork Fire is estimated at 16,349 acres with 0 containment and the Salt Fire is estimated at 7,652 acres with 0 containment, the According to the Forestry Division said.
