EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 2-year-old boy drowned in a backyard swimming pool Monday evening, June 24, according to the Las Cruces Police Department (LCPD).
At around 9:20 p.m. on Monday, Las Cruces police and fire personnel were dispatched to the 1000 block of Second Street after the boy’s parents discovered their child unresponsive, police said.
The child was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, LCPD said.
LCPD says they are investigating the incident as a standard procedure to determine what led to the child’s drowning.
