KTSM News – 9 Day Forecast: Storm chances paired with double digits for Borderland

Posted on July 7, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Tropical Storm Beryl is currently near Texas in the Gulf of Mexico as of Sunday afternoon with sustained winds of 65 mph.

Beryl is forecasted to make landfall early Monday morning potentially as a Category 2 hurricane along the middle Texas coast.

The storm is already bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds to areas like Houston, Corpus Christi and Brownsville.

Now, El Paso is not expected to be affected by Beryl. Storms that make their way to the Borderland will come from a separate system.

Monday, we are predicting a 40% chance of storms later in the evening. Throughout the day, we can expect light winds and mostly sunny skies with a high of 101 degrees.

Afternoon storms are in our forecast for Tuesday. Humidity will remain a factor in the morning and into the afternoon. Our high dips to the double digits at 99 degrees with an overnight low of 76 degrees.

Double digits and those storms chances continue into Wednesday, with a forecasted high of 98 degrees.

Temperatures in the evening will cool off to 75 degrees paired with humidity and a slight chance of scattered storms.

Thursday, we are back with those triple digits and a 20% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon making way into the evening.

Similar conditions will remain for Friday through Saturday. Highs will linger in the triple digits.

Next Sunday, the moisture pattern will continue but this time beginning in the morning  into the afternoon and possibly the evening. We are forecasting a high of 99 degrees.

Monday begins the day with a 15% chance of storm chances with a high of 98 degrees. Our overnight low cools off to 75 degrees.

Tuesday, we sit at 98 degrees, with cloud coverage for the Borderland this day.
