EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — IDEA Mesa Hills Academy and College Preparatory will be hosting a back-to-school event with Immunize El Paso to give families a head start on required school immunizations.
The Back-to-School event will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, at IDEA Mesa Hills Academy, located at 405 Wallenberg Dr., according to IDEA Mesa Hills in a news release.
Immunize El Paso will be offering the following vaccines at the event:
Flu
COVID-19
DTAP
Varicella
MMR
Hepatitis A and B
Meningococcal
TDAP and more
Families are required to bring their child’s insurance cards as vaccines are covered with most insurances, IDEA Mesa Hills said.
At the event, there will be hands-on assistance for families registering their child for the 2024-2025 school year with fun activities, music, and local food and drinks to purchase, IDEA Mesa Hills said.
“We are thrilled to partner with community partners for this event,” said Rebecca Sifuentes, Regional Registered Nurse, IDEA Public Schools. “Our goal is to support our students and their families by providing necessary health services and resources in a fun, community driven environment.”
IDEA Mesa Hills said the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger will be offering free food distributions and resources to families on nutrition education, while supplies last.
As well, students can also get a free physical by sports medicine specialist, Dr. Mario Ruja, according to IDEA Mesa Hills.
