El Paso Matters – Schneider Electric donates backpacks and supplies to Canutillo students for the new school year

Posted on July 16, 2024

Schneider Electric’s presence in El Paso is significant. With the recent unveiling of a new state-of-the-art, 160,000-square-foot manufacturing plant, the facility is projected to bring 400 new jobs to the area. That positions Schneider Electric as one of the largest employers in the region.

The company’s dedication to the El Paso community extends beyond single events. By fostering strong relationships with community partners and investing in local resources, Schneider Electric strives to create a lasting positive impact in El Paso.

Schneider Electric donated 312 school backpacks and 240 packages of colored pencils in support of the Canutillo Back to School Drive. This initiative aimed at providing essential school supplies to elementary school students in Canutillo ISD. Schneider Electric teams from across the state came together and led a volunteer effort to provide day-of support for this important community event.

“One of the most fulfilling aspects of volunteering was witnessing firsthand the positive impact our collective efforts had on the community,” said Robert Perez, account executive at Schneider Electric.

The donation of school supplies provides significant relief to Canutillo ISD families as well as ensure that students have the necessary tools to succeed throughout the school year.

Over the past 30 years, Schneider Electric has partnered with local schools to implement energy efficiency solutions and provide educational resources through student engagement programs and activities. These programs help schools provide hands-on learning and introduce STEAM career opportunities.

Through these initiatives and more, Schneider Electric remains committed to empowering communities through education and sustainability.

“El Paso is home to our largest manufacturing operation in the U.S., and we are proud to contribute to the well-being of the community, especially through initiatives that support education and the future of our children.” said Greg Knudson, account executive at Schneider Electric.

The success of the Canutillo Back to School Drive is a result of collaboration between various community partners. The El Paso County Housing Authority, El Paso Improving Quality of Life, El Paso Health, and County Commissioner Sergio Coronado played crucial roles in organizing and executing the event.
