KTSM News – Call for performers, mascots, volunteers for new mashup event

Posted on July 28, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The City of El Paso Public Libraries and Live Active El Paso are looking for performers, school mascots and volunteers for a new community event.

The event, which will take place from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at Memorial Park Reserve located at 1701 N Copia, is a mashup of the Public Libraries Teentober Fest program and Glow in the Park program from Live Active El Paso, according to the City.

The City said applications are now open for performers, community organizations, volunteers, school participants and others who would like to be a part of the public event.

The deadline to apply is Oct. 6. For more information and to fill out an application, visit the Public Libraries here or Parks and Recreation Department here.

“We are excited to bring the community this collaborative effort between the Public Libraries and Parks and Recreation that will provide our City’s youth with a wealth of opportunities and information,” said El Paso Public Libraries Director Norma Martinez.

The event will feature up to 50 informational and interactive booths where teens can get information on jobs, higher education, health and other services, according to the City.

There will also be workshops to help teens deal with life challenges, wealth management and other personal skills.

“This is a great opportunity for the youth of our community,” said Parks and Recreation Department Director Pablo Caballero. “The combined event will provide a secure and entertaining environment that’s focused on literature, physical health, creativity and more.”

The City said other activities include a stage with live entertainment throughout the night including a DJ, local bands and fitness demonstrations. There will also be dancing, costume contests, food trucks and more.
