EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Part of Avenida de Mesilla will be getting some improvements which could impact traffic along the street in the historic Town of Mesilla, the New Mexico Department of Transportation said.
The project will begin on Tuesday, July 30 and will impact the street between Watson Lane and Stern Drive, according to NMDOT.
The project will repair, replace and add ADA ramps along the road, also known as New Mexico Highway 28.
The project may cause delays along the affected part of the road, according to NMDOT.
Drivers should anticipate occasional closures of shoulders and side streets during the project. The contractor will operate from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
This phase of the project is expected to be completed Friday, Aug. 16, subject to weather conditions.
Detour signs will guide motorists around side street closures, which will occur primarily during working hours and will be lifted at night, NMDOT said.
Following the completion of this phase, nighttime paving operations will begin. Further details on this phase will be provided closer to the start of construction, NMDOT said.
