EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 56-year-old woman from California has died after a single-vehicle rollover crash Monday morning, Aug. 5, on I-10 West near Sierra Blanca, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
DPS says just before 8 a.m. that Monday, Rosa Elva Gordillo 56, from Helmet, California, and a 30-year-old man also from Helmet, California, were traveling westbound on I-10 15 miles west of Sierra Blanca in a Toyota.
Gordillo who was driving, veered north off the roadway and over the shoulder. The vehicle then rolled over and came to a rest on its right side facing northwest, according to DPS.
Gordillo was pronounced dead at the scene and the man suffered serious injuries. He was transported to a local hospital in El Paso.
DPS says both Gordillo and the man were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation and no further information has been released.
