EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Last night, after 7 p.m. we realized we were off the air. Promptly we conducted the standard procedure to check all systems and identify the source of the problem.
It escalated to one of the last resorts: the transmitter.
Our engineers were about to hike up the Franklin Mountains where the transmitter is located, but due to the dangerous terrain and night animals in the mountain, they were instructed not to for their safety.
At the break of dawn, they hiked to the transmission building only to find a very displeasing surprise: our transmitter had been vandalized. Somebody forced their way in and switched off much of the equipment.

Because of the break-in, we have filed a police report, and an investigation has started on this incident.
