EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Electric is planning to ask the Texas utility regulators to allow them to raise rates.
That’s all according to a new filing to the Public Utility Commission.
While the exact timing and extent of the potential rate increase remain uncertain, this filing marks the initial phase of the hearing process. If approved, this could lead to a noticeable change in your monthly electric bills.
According to the documents in the filing, EPE will submit a rate hike application sometime between October and December.
The last time the utility raised rates was in 20-22.
It’s worth noting that the previous rate hike, which occurred in 20-22, was met with resistance from both city leaders and customers.
Many El Pasoans have expressed concern over unexpectedly high power costs, particularly during the recent triple-digit temperatures. This latest action from El Paso Electric adds to these worries.
We have reached out to El Paso Electric for more information — We are waiting to hear back.
