KTSM News – Doña Ana County residents can request absentee ballots for Nov. election

Posted on August 15, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Residents in Doña Ana County can now request an absentee ballot for the 2024 General Election.

Dr. Amanda López Askin, the Doña Ana County Clerk, announced the absentee ballot application on Thursday, Aug. 15, according to the news release by Doña Ana County Clerk’s Office.

Registered residents can apply for the ballot online at NmVote.org through the NM Voter Info Portal or in-person at the County Clerk’s Office located at 845 N. Motel Blvd. in Las Cruces.

According to the County Clerk’s Office, the absentee ballots will be mailed to registered voters with a complete absentee application, starting on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Completed ballots can be sent the following ways:

Mailed or dropped off at the County Clerk’s Office.

If the ballot is mailed back, voters should allow seven to 10 days for the ballot to be delivered to the County Clerk’s Office.

Dropped off at a designed secured container. To find a secured container location, visit the Doña Ana County Election’s website here.

Dropped off in person at a polling site during either early voting or election day voting.

The deadline to request an absentee ballot is on Tuesday, Oct. 22, according to the County Clerk’s Office. Ballots must be turned in by Election Day at 7 p.m.

The County Clerk’s Office is also making residents aware that they can voluntarily opt-in for permanent absentee voting when requesting their absentee ballot.

If a voter selects the permanent absentee ballot option, they will automatically be mailed a ballot for every subsequent election, according to the County Clerk’s Office.

Voters are not eligible for permanent absentee list if they want their ballot delivered out of state.

General Election Day is Tuesday, November 5.
