EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Socorro Police Department (Socorro PD) highlights the importance of wearing your seatbelts following a rollover crash that happened early Thursday morning, Aug. 15.
According to Socorro PD in a news release, at roughly 5:37 a.m., officers responded to a “serious” rollover incident at the intersection of Alameda Ave. and Oden Dr.
A truck traveling eastbound veered off the road and hit the median, causing the vehicle to roll over into oncoming traffic, according to Socorro PD.
The truck crashed into another vehicle heading the opposite direction and that second vehicle caught on fire, according to Socorro PD.
The driver of the second vehicle was able to safely exit, according to Socorro PD.
According to Socorro PD, both drivers were wearing their seatbelts that significantly reduced their injuries.
Both individuals sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
“This incident serves as a powerful reminder of the life-saving importance of wearing a seatbelt. Seatbelts save lives-every time. We urge our community to always buckle up and help us #EndTheStreakTX by preventing fatalities on our roads. Together, we can make a difference,” read the news release.
