EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — This week officially kicked off the start of the fall semester at the University of Texas at El Paso.
Monday, Aug. 26, was the first day of classes for many students. KTSM spoke to some UTEP students about what they thought of the current parking permit prices and the options provided by the university.
“Well, I have the Sun Bowl garage, and I haven’t had any issues. Just that obviously gets full. So I feel like the earlier you come, the better it is,” Fernanda, a UTEP student said.
According to UTEP’S website, parking permits range between $150 and $400 per year, depending on the permit.
Parking permits officially went on sale July 30. KTSM reached out to UTEP to learn about parking demand and capacity. University officials sent us a statement saying quote:
“The University sells parking permits based on International Parking Institute guidelines to ensure maximum use of parking spaces, taking into account vehicle turnover between classes.”
