EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — U.S. Representative Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, held a news conference on Thursday, Aug. 29, along the southern border calling out the current Biden-Harris Administration for not doing enough to keep the border safe.
“The Biden-Harris Administration has forgotten us. They’ve abandoned us. We’re on our own. We’ve been on our own. And so, we can either complain about the issue or we can roll up our sleeves and get to work,” Gonzales said.
During the conference, Gonzales also referred to Vice President Kamala Harris visit to El Paso in 2021.
He claimed Harris didn’t get to see what the border situation is really like.
“I remember Veronica Escobar hosting, the Vice President Harris and Mayorkas at the tarmac. They didn’t come out here. They didn’t come out to the Lower Valley,” Gonzales said.
KTSM reached out to Congresswoman Veronica Escobar, D-Texas, about this issue, she had this to say via a phone interview:
“Unfortunately, we know that, you know, many of my Republican colleagues love to lie and exploit situations as the vice president came into our community, not with law enforcement. She toured the processing facility, she met with federal employees, met with Border Patrol leadership. She also spoke to migrants at a different location in El Paso,” Escobar said.
