EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is ranked in America’s Top 500 Colleges, a list compiled by Forbes.
According to Forbes, UTEP was ranked 280 out of 500 colleges nationwide and ranked No. 1 in Texas colleges for graduating students with little to no debt.
“UTEP provides a great education at a price that families can afford,” said UTEP President Heather Wilson. “This ranking is a testament to our commitment to excellence.”
Forbes ranked the schools by alumni salary, student debt, graduation and retention rates, return on investment, academic success and leadership and entrepreneurial success of graduates, according to the news release by UTEP.
According to data by the Education Data Initiative, the national average debt of a graduate is $28,244. Forbes found that the average debt for a UTEP student is $4,735.
“UTEP wants every student to have an exceptional and an affordable education,” said Amanda Vasquez, vice president for Enrollment Management. “Our teams do everything in our power to remove financial barriers for students interested in attending UTEP.”
Forbes also found that the median salary of UTEP alumni within 10 years of graduating was $106,000.
