Barber Edgar Scissorhands says the barbershop provides a safe and comfortable place for autistic children and those with disabilities.
“I’ve cut hair here on the floor, outside. You know, on the patio. I do it, I’ve done it all. You know, everybody’s like, you have too much patience for these kids, and I’m just like, every kid deserves a haircut.”
Amy Phillips, a client who regularly takes her children to the barbershop says it has changed the way her children respond to getting their hair cut.
“Getting your haircut for anyone that has sensitivities, especially the autistic community, at any age, it can be really hard. And to find an inclusive, accommodating haircut place is so hard and it shouldn’t be. So when I met Edgar, it it just clicked,” Phillips said.
The community recently created a GoFundMe to help the business with repairs. To access that click here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-rebuild-the-gentlemans-barbershop-by-bissuett
