EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The sixth annual Las Cruces Space Festival returns to Las Cruces and the Southern New Mexico region.
The event kicked off on Friday, Sept. 6 and will last through Sept. 14.
The festival kicks off with an opening reception in conjunction with a the premiere of an “astro” photography exhibit with the Las Cruces Museum of Nature and Science.
The special guest for this year’s festival will be former NASA astronaut Nicole Stott. Stott will make appearances at different events during the first weekend of the festival.
There will be plenty of STEM and art-related activities for all ages along with a full schedule for the entire festival.
The opening weekend culminates with an open house at Spaceport America on Sunday, Sept. 8. For more information about the open house, you can click here.
Throughout the week, there will be Challenger Learning Center missions, moongazing, astronomy talks and activities at NMSU. The final day of the festival will be held at the Downtown Plaza de Las Cruces with Space Saturday during the Las Cruces Farmers & Craft Market.
