EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The Ysleta Independent School District (YISD) sent a statement Tuesday, Sept. 10 saying an alleged threat posted on social media targeting multiple schools across Texas, including El Paso, is not credible.
The statement read as it follows:
The Ysleta Independent School District is aware of a suspicious social media post that indicated a potential threat toward multiple schools across the state of Texas, including the El Paso region. Please be assured that law enforcement authorities have determined the alleged threat is NOT credible. Safety is the No. 1 priority at Ysleta ISD; we take every possible threat seriously, and we take every precaution to protect our students and staff at all times. Students are safe at our schools, and any person found to have made a false threat to our schools will be subject to disciplinary action and/or criminal prosecution.

As we previously reported, school threats are becoming more common in El Paso, and the El Paso County Attorney’s Office said false threats against schools will carry “significant legal consequences.”
Legal consequences can include probation, placement in a juvenile detention facility, or even removal from the home for minors, according to the County Attorney’s Office.
