EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Chaparral High School was placed on lockdown status on Tuesday, Sept. 10 after school officials received a threatening message via an anonymous reporting application, Gadsden Independent School District announced in a news release.
The threatening message was sent via the “StopIt Anonymous” reporting application.
This app, adopted by the district, allows parents, teachers, students and community members to anonymously report suspicious or dangerous activities within the district, according to Gadsden ISD.
Gadsden ISD said thanks to the prompt response from law enforcement and their close collaboration with the district’s security team, the situation was quickly “assessed and managed.”
“We understand that these types of situations can be stressful for parents, students, and the
community. We remain committed to transparency and will always prioritize the safety and
well-being of our students. We greatly appreciate your trust in our ability to manage these situations and keep your students safe,” read the news release.
