KTSM News – County commissioners to discuss, possibly adopt budget for FY25

Posted on September 15, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso County Commissioners Court is scheduled to discuss and possibly take action on adopting a budget for Fiscal Year 2025 at its meeting on Monday, Sept. 16.

The proposed FY 2025 budget totals $584.5 million dollars.

Here is a breakdown of the proposed budget by different categories, according to the County:

General Fund:             $467,069,576

Special Revenue:        $71,474,513

Debt Service:               $33,831,444

Enterprise Funds:         $5,165,322

Capital Projects:          $6,951,166

Total Proposed Budget: $584,492,021

Since February, the County has conducted a series of budget meetings as it prepared to propose a budget for FY2025 which begins on Oct. 1.

In August, the Commissioners Court voted to adopt a “no-new-revenue” tax rate.

“At $0.426323, this rate is more than three-cents lower than the County’s current tax rate. This is the third time in the past four years the County has adopted a reduced tax rate,” the County said in a news release at the time.

The El Paso County Commissioners Court is scheduled to meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the County Courthouse, 500 E. San Antonio, Room 303.
