KTSM News – Police: Speeding motorcyclist killed when he loses control, hits traffic sign

Posted on October 11, 2024

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 22-year-old man was killed when he was speeding on his motorcycle, failed to navigate a curve and was thrown from his bike, El Paso Police said.

The crash happened at about 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 along the 1900 block of Airway in East El Paso.

Police said Alexis Montalvo, 22 of Fort Bliss, was driving westbound on Airway at a “high rate of speed.”

He lost control around a curve and struck a traffic sign, police said.

The motorcyclist was thrown from his bike and died from his injuries, police said.

Speed is a contributing factor in the crash, police said.

This is the 52nd fatal crash in El Paso this year, compared to 56 at the same time last year.
